Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera Review

Nikon D40
This is a great little digital SLR camera. Truthfully, I could shoot about half of my professional work with this camera. I recommend the Nikon D40 or Nikon D60 to all my friends and family and they can't wait to show me the pictures they have taken.

It's fun, light and super easy to use. This is a beginner level camera that takes great photos and anyone can use it.

Just a few of things to watch out for:

1. Older Nikon/Nikkor lenses may not auto focus on this camera.
2. When you purchase a new lens make sure it's an Nikon AF-S lens or a Sigma HSM.
3. It's a 6.1 megapixal camera. 6.1 Megapixals is plenty, I've printed some 24x36 posters of pics taken with this camera they and look great. I wish, I could show you the prints.

If you want to spend just a little more, the Nikon D60 SLR is a little better camera.

Get it with an 18-55mm kit lens for under $500. That's a deal.

Get it with 2 kit lens and 18-50mm and a 55-200mm lens for $700

If this is about what you have budgeted for a new camera I know you will enjoy it.

  1. i have the d40 camera now but currently will not update just yet. i have the kit with the 18-55mm. I cant do too much with it. i want to start building a portfolio so i will be shooting for little to no cost. mostly portraits, family, children. what lenses should i invest in that i may be able to use later with the d7000. this is the one id really like to update eventually to. or can you recommend just a lens that will help with a better focus. seems like i have to get real close with the 18-55 lens. thanks in advance for your help! love love love your work!! :)
