Nikon Zoom Telephoto AF Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm

Check out the price on this lens. It's dirt cheap. $140-$160. I don't think you can find a professional photographer that would be caught dead with this lens.

Here's a little secret, I shot a picture that won 1st place in it's category in an international contest (8,000 entries) with the New York Institute of Photography with this lens.

It's the only zoom I had with me the day we were watching my nephew's team play this game. I shot this from a ladder setup outside the fence about 20ft past 1st base.

It's not the fastest or sharpest lens. It's the entry level big zoom lens. Just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean you can't get some great shots with it. If you are just starting out and need a zoom lens on a budget, buy it and have some fun.

Be Smart: This lens will not auto foucs on a D40, D40X, D60 or D5000.

If you have the Nikon D40, D40x, D60 or D5000 you will need to buy the 70-300mm AF-S VR lens and you will have to spend $500-$600. It's a better lens and well worth the extra money.

Buy it at B&H photo. These guys are the most reputable photo and video dealer on the planet.

70-300mm with VR and AF-S for all Nikon cameras $500-$600.

70-300mm Non AF-S and no VR $140-$160.

USA vs imported version at B&H photo. If you buy the USA versions and need warranty work, Nikon will do it right here in the good old USA. If you buy the imported version B&H will take care of any warranty work.

Buy one of these and have some fun.
